Chelsea are currently preparing for the FA Cup final against Arsenal on Saturday, which is understandably the priority right now over the Champions League tie a week later.

Frank Lampard has a chance this weekend to win silverware during his first season as Blues manager and faces London rivals Arsenal, who his side picked up four points from in the two league meetings this campaign.

But a week later Chelsea have the huge task of trying to overturn a three-goal deficit against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last-16.

The Blues have been written off by most in the European fixture and it’s even been forgotten by many, but stranger results have happened and the team has got to go into it with at least some belief of overturning a 3-0 aggregate scoreline.

Lampard’s team have shown this campaign they are a fluent attacking side that can be a real threat going forward to anyone, so they must at least give it their all to cause what would be a colossus upset.

Olivier Giroud has overtaken teammate Tammy Abraham to become the first-choice striker in the second half of the season, but the manager should really consider starting both against Bayern.

It makes sense to stick with a 3-4-3 formation this weekend against Arsenal, but Chelsea need goals to cause a European upset and starting with two centre-forwards would shock Bayern.

Giroud and Abraham have never started a game together, but they would give the Blues a colossus presence going forward and they’ve scored 27 goals combined this season.

It could also be interesting for Lampard to experiment with a two-man attack ahead of Timo Werner’s inclusion in the squad for next season.

The 24-year-old German striker is now training with Chelsea following his arrival from RB Leipzig and the manager should be drawing up plans to see if he can play with two forwards at times next year.
