Serial Dundee stalker targeted social worker appointed to help him

Kieran Dorian.
Kieran Dorian.

A serial stalker who bombarded the social worker tasked with monitoring his behaviour with filthy phone calls and texts after he walked free from court on multiple harassment charges is behind bars.

Kieran Dorian is facing a lengthy jail term after he also admitted stalking another woman for more than three-and-a-half years after becoming obsessed with her and harassing her online and in person.

The two victims were the fifth and sixth women he has admitted stalking over the past seven years.

Dorian dodged jail last year after he admitted stalking four separate women – with a community payback order imposed placing him under supervision.

That brought him into contact with a social worker who was trying to address his offending behaviour.

But instead Dorian targeted her with a string of vile messages over the course of a weekend.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard the woman, who cannot be named to protect her identity, had avoided giving Dorian her personal phone number because of the type of offences he had previously been convicted of.

But fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson told the court that an administrator accidentally handed him that number – prompting the string of messages.

She said: “When she heard the content she said she had a ‘sinking feeling’.”

Miss Robertson said Dorian had described her as “banging, smoking hot” and that he was “in love with her”.

He then moved on to make crude sexual references in the messages.

The court heard that months after that incident another woman came forward to report having been targeted by Dorian for more than three-and-a-half years.

He started by messaging her repeatedly on Facebook saying he felt a “spiritual vibe” from her that “not many people have”.

Prosecutor Miss Robertson said: “She eventually had to block three Facebook accounts and two Twitter accounts of his.”

The court was told that she later started seeing him staring at her at venues in Dundee – with him repeatedly messaging her via social media despite her requests for him to desist.

Miss Robertson said: “At one point he posted pictures of her on his own Twitter account – she had to contact Twitter to have them taken down.

“He told the complainer he was in love with her and said she was his queen for life.

“She says she was freaked out and stressed out by him. Her friends saw a change in her behaviour when he was stalking her.”

Dorian, 23, a prisoner at HMP Perth, pleaded guilty on indictment to stalking the first victim between March 15 2014 and December 12 2017 and the second on February 10 this year at addresses in Dundee.

Defence solicitor Douglas McConnell said: “He didn’t know how to act in certain circumstances or what is right and what is wrong.

“He quite freely admits that alcohol and drug misuse – cannabis misuse – is potentially behind this.”

Sheriff Alastair Brown deferred sentence until January and remanded Dorian in custody meantime.

He said: “I’m extremely concerned that if he is released in to the community it will be impossible to protect these ladies – and other ladies with whom he might develop a fixation – from behaviour that must have caused immense anxiety.”

Non harassment orders banning Dorian from contacting the two women for five years were imposed and he was also placed on the sex offenders register ahead of sentencing.
