DENVER – Four young men were sentenced to prison last week for their roles in the killing of a man during a marijuana deal in Denver two years ago, the district attorney's office announced this week.
Quincy Wilkerson, 19, Armani Pierre, 20, Isaiah Davis, 21, and Kylvito Garrette, 20, pleaded guilty in the the Aug. 20, 2017, shooting death of 26-year-old Joshua Hughes, prosecutors said.
Wilkerson received a 28-year sentence for second-degree murder; Pierre got 42 years for aggravated robbery and accessory to murder; and Davis and Garrette were both sentenced to 44 years for second-degree murder.
Hughes was in Denver from Montana and trying to buy two pounds of marijuana for $3,000 when the shooting happened, officials said. The deal was set up on a website, Commerce City Kush Club.
When officers were dispatched to the 5000 block of Titan Court, in Denver's Montbello neighborhood, they found Hughes in the street, suffering from four gunshot wounds, after an attempted robbery. He was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where he later died.
Investigators tracked down the four suspects through social media, including Facebook, prosecutors said.
