Live Colorado traffic updates as winds, heavy snow move across the high country

A powerful Pacific storm is dropping heavy snow over the mountains of Colorado, but that's not the only thing drivers should be wary of if driving to the high country this weekend: Strong winds with gusts of up to 60 mph were expected to cause blowing and drifting snow across roadways.

6:43 p.m.: The eastbound lanes of I-70 are back open between Silverthorne and the Eisenhower Tunnel, CDOT says.

4:08 p.m.: The eastbound lanes of I-70 are closed at Silverthorne to the Eisenhower Tunnel due to multiple spun out vehicles and crashes. Drivers should expect extended delays.

3:54 p.m.: CDOT urges drivers traveling up to the high country to be ready for the possibility of extended delays and safety closures as a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the mountains into late Saturday night. Expect strong winds along with blowing and drifting snow. Weather and safety closures are possible for I-70, US 285, CO 9 and US 40, CDOT says. There are already extensive delays at the Eisenhower Tunnel as Loveland Pass is closed for hazmat trucks to get through the area.
