HENDERSON, Ky. - A Henderson County man is accused of beating a woman so severely that she suffered a brain bleed and a broken eye socket.

TJ Hoggard Jr., 51, 100 block of Eighth Street in Corydon, is scheduled to appear in Henderson District Court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing. He faces charges of first-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment.

TJ Hoggard

The alleged crime occurred in June after Hoggard and the woman started arguing, according to police reports. The woman told officers that the argument escalated until he allegedly started punching her in the face. "She said that TJ always continues to hit in the same place over and over ...," according to an arrest warrant filed at the Henderson Judicial Center.

The victim said Hoggard also kicked her in her right leg several times. She said she had injured the leg previously and, "he knew that the leg was weak," court papers said.

The female said she fell down and Hoggard, "stomped and kicked her," the warrant said. The victim said she repeatedly tried to run from the home, but was prevented by Hoggard who allegedly grabbed her and forced her back into the residence. The warrant said during one of the escape attempts, Hoggard grabbed the woman and threw her into the kitchen, causing her to hit her head on the stove.

The female said several hours after the assault began, she was able to get to her neighbor's house who then called 911.

At the emergency room, a doctor located the bleed on the woman's brain caused from "blunt force trauma" as well as the broken eye socket, the warrant said.

Hoggard was located on Oct. 7 and arrested. He is lodged at the Henderson County Detention Center under a $5,000 full-cash bond.

Stanley Puckett

Meanwhile, another Henderson man has been accused of assaulting someone during an argument about housework.

Stanley Puckett, 26, 600 block of Letcher Street, will appear in Henderson District Court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing on a charge of second-degree assault.

Stanley Puckett

The incident allegedly occurred on Sept. 9 at the home of a relative. The victim said she was scolding Puckett for not cleaning house when he allegedly got angry and stabbed her in the face, an arrest warrant said. It's believed that Puckett used a mini screwdriver to stab the victim. She said he was using one to work on his glasses when he allegedly stabbed her, the court documents said.

Puckett was located on Oct. 3 and arrested on the warrant. He is lodged at the Henderson County Detention Center under a $2,500 full-cash bond.
