Alyssa Shelton, Hallie Mattingly lead Henderson County runners in Fast Cats Classic

  • Henderson County’s Alyssa Shelton and Hallie Mattingly finished 21st and 22nd in a field of 161 runners in the girls varsity race in Saturday’s Fast Cats Classic at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro. They each ran the 5K course in 20:46. In the boys varsity race, Blain Krampe finished 55th in 18:01. The Henderson County boys team finished 17th out of 25 schools.

In the middle school boys competition, North’s Sonny Shelton finished 11th in 11:36. South, which placed sixth, had three runners finish in the top 30 -- Isaac Krampe 22nd, Rex Blue 24th and Jordan Haynes 29th.

North’s girls placed sixth out of 11 teams, led by Allina Decker in 20th at 13:23 and Mackenzie Webb in 33rd at 14:07. South’s girls were ninth, led by Allison Lucas in 37th and Destany Pike in 42nd.
