Birmingham man charged with Home Office stabbing

Dominic Hornberger, 29, appears in court accused of attack on civil servant

A 29-year-old man from Birmingham has been charged with grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in a public place after a civil servant was stabbed outside the Home Office, the Metropolitan police said.

Dominic Hornberger was charged on Friday and appeared at Westminster magistrates court on Saturday, but the met only released details on Monday.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Southwark crown court on 13 September.

The victim, who is in his 60s, stepped in to the Home Office for help after sustaining knife wounds in the street attack. He works for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, which is housed in the same building.
