A 24-year-old woman was murdered, allegedly by her lover, who stabbed himself multiple times after committing the crime in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Friday morning, the police said.

Pinky, who was married to one Ravinder, was stabbed to death by Sunny from Khanpur, they said.

The police said Pinky and Sunny were in a relationship for three-four years but it hit choppy waters in the last few months.

“Sunny stabbed Pinky four times and himself seven times,” an officer said.

DCP (South) Vijay Kumar said they received a PCR call at 9.50 a.m. regarding the incident.

“The woman had stab wounds while the killer had an injury mark on his neck. The woman succumbed to injuries in AIIMS Trauma Centre while Sunny is undergoing treatment,” he said.

Pinky was living in a rented accommodation in Chirag Delhi with Ravinder, a mechanic, and their 4-year-old son since June 16.

Their landlady Sushma said at 9.45 p.m., she heard Pinky and a man screaming. She then went to check when she saw the door open.

“Pinky and a man, who we thought was her husband, were lying in a pool of blood,” she said, adding that Sunny was taken to hospital in an autorickshaw.

Ravinder came to the spot and took Pinky to the hospital, she added.

Ravinder’s brother who did not wish to be identified said Ravinder was at their house, a few metres away from his rented house, at that time. “He had come here to ask his father whether the couple could stay with them because he didn’t want Pinky to be alone at home,” the brother said.

Pinky’s mother Meena said her daughter and Ravinder fell in love and got married about five years ago. Ravinder’s family was against the couple’s wishes but later accepted her.

“They stayed with Ravinder’s family for a few months before shifting to rented accommodation in Khanpur. She met Sunny here who started pursuing her,” she said, adding that she had spoken to her daughter a few minutes before the incident.

“Pinky said her parents-in-law did not want the couple to stay with them,” said the victim’s mother.

‘Troubled her’

About three months ago, the couple moved to Gurugram with Pinky’s relatives as Sunny “troubled her”, her family said.

Sushma said Ravinder had told her that they will be moving out of the house on July 1 as “the house was small for them”. A case has been registered. Mr. Kumar said , so far, they don’t suspect Ravinder’s involvement in the incident.
