Chandigarh Boys, Kerala Girls lift SAI Regional volleyball trophy

Chandigarh Region Boys and Kerala Region Girls lifted the All India SAI Inter-Regional Volleyball Championship that concluded at the newly built indoor sports facility at SVLN Zilla Parishad High School, Gopalapatnam on Friday.

Chandigarh boys thrashed Lucknow Regional Centre 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19), while Kerala Girls defeated Bengaluru Regional Centre 3-0 (25-10, 25-22 and 25-17) in the finals.

In another match for the third place, Chandigarh Region Girls defeated Bhopal Regional Centre in the straight three sets 3-0 (25-14, 25-13 and 25-19) and in the boys category for third place, Kerala Regional Centre defeated Gandhi Nagar (Gujarat) in the straight three sets 3-0 (25-20, 25-14 and 25-20)

Guntur Boys excel

Guntur Boys and Krishna Girls lifted the Andhra Pradesh State Sub-Junior Inter-District Volleyball Championship.

The Guntur boys thrashed the host Visakhapatnam, while Krishna girls defeated Prakasam girls. West Godavari defeated Prakasam in boys category and Kadapa girls defeated West Godavari team to seize the third place.

Andhra Pradesh Volleyball Association (APVA) and Government Whip P.G.V.R. Naidu said that Vizag had hosted the two major volleyball events in a grand manner and the sporting events were visual feast to the volleyball lovers in the city.

“We are planning to host some more events in the city to promote the game among the youngsters and also to promote Vizag as a sports city,” he added. On Sunday evening, the winners received trophies from the district officials.
