One of the Bengaluru’s most recognisable landmarks and a nerve centre of the transport system, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation’s (KSRTC) Majestic bus stand is turning 50 this June.

From a lake that was the chief source of drinking water to a ‘maidan’ that hosted public meetings to finally becoming the city’s transport hub, Majestic has now morphed itself as the heart of Bengaluru.

The Hindu traces its journey over the last 50 years in this special series.
