The Students Federation of India has slammed Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University for attending a function organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the students wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party, on the campus.
In a joint statement, SFI president Uvais C.P. and Secretary Abhijeet said the Vice-Chancellor had floated rules by attending a function organised by the students wing to launch a social media campaign in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Vice-Chancellor posed for a photograph with ABVP workers who were wearing T-shirts with message “Modi once more”.
The university had organised a lecture series in association with Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Foundation. The university administration compelled the students to attend the programme, the statement claimed.
The office-bearers accused the administration of forcefully removing banners and posters put up by the SFI. On Thursday, the SFI took out a march to condemn the alleged attempt to “saffronise” the campus.
