Aurodhan Gallery, in collaboration with the Pondicherry Art Akademy, hosted a solo exhibition displaying the artwork of Jayaraman to encourage local artists.
“A solo show is one of the highest forms of respect that can be given to an artist. I am honoured to be holding such events that encourage them”, said Lalit Verma, founder of the Gallery, who has been holding art events in the city for over a decade.
The paintings on display are from the series “ Maa ”. The term, broken into syllables — ‘ maati ’ (soil) and ‘ aakash ’ (sky), is used to highlight Mr. Verma’s vision that everything that lies between the earth and space is art.
The visitors were also surprised by the participation of Anup Giri, a senior artist from West Bengal, who made a live sketch to motivate the artists, reiterating that art is a source of peace, calm and tranquillity .
Sreedalaadevi, Founder and Secretary of Pondicherry Art Akademy said that an event like this is taking place for the first time in the city.
A total of 12 artists are being promoted throughout the city.
