The police on Friday quelled a protest by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) activists against the alleged high-handedness and corrupt activities of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao and his son Kodela Sivaram.

The protesters, led by YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu, gathered at the Ambedkar statue in Sattenapalli as part of the ‘Quit Kodela-Save Sattenapalli’ campaign and raised slogans against the Speaker. The police removed their tent and shifted the protesters to the Krosuru police station.

Ever since losing to Mr. Rao in 2014 elelctions by a margin of 924 votes, Mr. Rambabu has been alleging he had been indulging in corruption in welfare schemes.

Mr. Rambabu said he would continue the fight against nepotism of Telugu Desam Party leaders in the constituency.
