A 10-member inter-ministerial team of the Union government will tour Karnataka for a spot study of drought-prone areas for three days from Saturday.

Revenue Minister R.V. Deshpande told presspersons on Wednesday that the team, led by the Union Agriculture Ministry’s joint secretary Amitabh Gautam, would be divided into three groups for the tour. The State government has declared 100 taluks as drought-hit.

Mr. Deshpande said he and Agriculture Minister N.H. Shivashankara Reddy had met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and submitted a memorandum seeking Central aid of ₹2,434 crore under the National Disaster Relief Fund.

The State suffered crop loss to the tune of ₹16,662 crore owing to deficit rainfall during the 2018 monsoon, the Minister said.

The team will tour districts such as Raichur, Yadgir, Ballari, Davangere, Kolar, Chickballapur, Chitradurga, and Tumakuru.
