Reiterating that the Congress will support the Union government in any action in reply to the attack on the CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir, KPCC working president Eshwar Khandre has said that he will urge the coalition government to announce a compensation of ₹1 crore to the family of Mandya’s H. Guru who died in the incident.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Mr. Khandre condemned the terror attack in strong terms.

Reiterating that the alliance between the Congress and the JD(S) will continue in the Lok Sabha elections, he, however, clarified that the seat-sharing pattern was yet to be finalised.

‘Invited to contest’

“Both Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had been invited to contest the polls from Karnataka,” he said.

To a query, he said the party would finalise the candidates for the polls well in advance. Condemning ‘Operation Lotus’ strongly, Mr. Khandre accused the BJP of indulging in filthy politics in its bid to topple the coalition government. “The people of the State will teach BJP a lesson in the election,” he said. He also accused the Union government of indulging in vengeful politics and being dictatorial in running the government especially while dealing with the States.

He said in the last six months, the Congress had fared well in the elections to local bodies and bypolls. “There is a Congress wave in the country and it will work against the BJP,” he added.
