Robert Vadra arrives at the Enforcement Directorate office in New Delhi on February 22, 2019.

Robert Vadra, husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate on Friday, the fifth time this month, to record his statement in connection with a London-based properties case. He may be asked to join the probe again.

Mr. Vadra reached the ED office around 11 a.m. and was questioned by the investigating officer for about six hours. He last appeared on February 20 , but left within three hours as he was not well.

The ED has alleged a Vadra-link to a London-based property that was bought for £1.9 million by defence consultant Sanjay Bhandari through a front company in the United Arab Emirates. It was later sold at the same price to another firm. However, Mr. Vadra has denied the charge.

Some other properties located in London are under investigation, based on the findings of the Income Tax Department that had conducted searches against the defence consultant in 2016, said an official. Mr. Bhandari, who is on the run, is currently said to be in London.
