AIADMK leaders on June 22 conducted prayers for rain in different parts of the State.

In Chennai, party propaganda secretary M. Thambi Durai took part in an event at Kurungaleeswarar temple in Koyambedu, while Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar participated in prayers at Gangadeeswarar temple in Purasawalkam.

School Education Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan attended an event at Subramanyaswamy temple near Gobichettypalayam; Agriculture Minister R. Doraikannu at Adhikumbeswarar temple in Kumbakonam; Food Minister R. Kamaraj at Thyagarajaswamy temple in Tiruvarur; Social Welfare Minister V. Saroja at Pon Varadarajaperumal temple, Rasipuram; and Cooperation Minister Sellur K. Raju at Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai.

The prayers coincided with the DMK’s agitation to highlight the State government’s ‘failure’ to tackle the water shortage.
