Victim identified in deadly Indianapolis road rage shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — Authorities have identified the man shot and killed after an apparent road rage incident on Saturday.

The Marion County Coroner's Office on Monday identified the victim as Mustafa Ayoubi, 32, from Afghanistan.

A 33-year-old Plainfield man is being held in the Marion County Jail on suspicion of murder after he allegedly shot and killed a man at a northwest side apartment shortly after 8 p.m. According to information from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, it started with a road rage incident around 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 465 southbound near the 38th Street exit.

IMPD officers were called around 8 p.m. to the Lakeside Crossing at Eagle Creek apartment complex on report of a man who had been shot. Ayoubi died at the scene, police said.

Formal charges have not been filed against the suspect.
