Mayor Kim McMillan normally flips the switch for the ceremonial lighting, but she declined to attend the event this year, handing the duty over to mayor pro tem Councilwoman Valerie Guzman. McMillan lost the Nov. 6 mayoral election to Joe Pitts, who takes office Jan. 1.

There were performances by the Rossview High School Choir, Acro Dance Express, Natalie’s Dance Network and CAST & Crowns Performing Arts Studio.
