Restaurant Inspections: Here are the critical violations in Sandusky County

The Sandusky County Health Department's Sanitation Division inspected 37 sites for its Food Inspection Reports between May 31 and June 28.

Inspectors reported the following critical violations:

Hardee's No. 1501153, 6410 County Road 165, Genoa. Violations: Time being used in lieu of temperature need to be labeled with start time and discarded within four hours (corrected); thermometers must be calibrated properly.

Rutherford House, 805 S. Buchanan St., Fremont. Violations: water at handwashing sink is scalding hot, improper handwashing, rinsing being done; uncooked bacon stored over reaty-to-eat butter (corrected). Barbecue chicken held past discard date (corrected). Follow up: Previous violations corrected. Water in handwashing sink still scalding and a plumber must repair. Follow up: Handwashing sink has been repaired. Proper handwashing being done.

Helena Market, 248 Main St., Helena. Violation: Raw eggs stored above ready to eat foods in sandwich cooler (corrected).

Subway, 2180 Sean Drive, Fremont. Violation: Several foods in counter cooler are above 41 degrees. Units need to be serviced and cleaned.

Kate & Al's Bar & Grill, 105 S. Main St., Gibsonburg. Violations: Raw foods kept next to or above ready to eat foods in walk in cooler; clean and maintain dish rack, fry cutter and fry bucket; Items on counter cooling including noodles, mashed potatoes, raw chicken breader since lunch. Items should be refrigerated; no date marking on foods in coolers (repeat violation); Follow Up: All critical violations were corrected.

Hardee's No. 1500171, 6164 County Road 165, Genoa. Violations: Sanitizer in red burrito too low (corrected); ice machine needs to be cleaned, pop dispenser needs to be maintained;  milk in cooler was above 41 degrees. Follow up: All previous violations corrected. 

Kroger Co. 505, 1316 Oak Harbor Road, Fremont. Follow up: Salad and fresh fruit coolers have issues with stacking too high and temperatures being above 41 degrees. (repeat violation). Follow up: All violations are corrected.

Kirwens Super Market, 104 W. Madison, Gibsonburg. Violations: Hot dogs, mashed potatoes, bologna and others at temperatures above 41 degrees. Need to move foods to cooler functioning properly; all items in deli must be labeled with dates made or opened (corrected); foods over seven days old must be discarded unless information is obtained from the manufacturer otherwise. Follow up: All violations corrected.

Woodville Youth Organization, 708 W. Main St., Woodville. Violation: Ready-to-eat foods need date marking and discarded within seven days. Follow up: Violations corrected.

Pisanello's, 107 W. Madison St., Gibsonburg. Violation: All items need to be date marked and discarded within seven days. Follow up: All violations corrected.

Surest Path Recovery of Fremont, 825 N. June St., Fremont. Violation: Open bottle of hot sauce stored on dry goods shelf, required refrigeration (corrected). Follow up: Violations corrected.

Skyway Drive In, 4175 Ohio 20, Gibsonburg. Violations: Pop machine must be cleaned and maintained (corrected); all foods opened or made need to be dated and discarded after seven days, watch sell by dates.

Angie's Angel Child Development LLC, 1517 E. State St., Fremont. Violation: Spray bottle of sanitizer was over 200 parts per million. (corrected)

Dels Super Market Inc., 106 W. Main St., Woodville. Violation: Several coolers were out of temperature and freezer foods thawed. Meat cooler at 44 to 45 degrees not 41 or lower; chemicals stored over baby food (corrected).

Elmwood of Fremont, 1545 Fangboner Road, Fremont. Violation: Control pests, ants found below dishwasher.

Wendy's of Fremont, 1426 Oak Harbor Road, Fremont. Violations: Cold foods above 41 degrees (repeat violation); no time label on cheeses by microwave (corrected).

The Sandusky County Health Department reported the following had no food violations: Prairie Market, CDI Teaching & Mentoring Fremont, Chateau Tebeau, Fremont Rec No. 1, East of Chicago Clyde, Bethesda Care Center, Pizza Hut, Winesteins and Anderson Field Concessions. All inspections are public records. 

The department also inspected five public pools and nine campgrounds, as well as mobile and temporary food services and one body art business.
