Fremont Ross club taps new board

FREMONT- The Fremont Rotary has sponsored the Link/Interact Club of Fremont Ross High School. The group kicked off its second year with 67 members, who will be working to make a difference and be the inspiration in the school and community during this school year. 

The club’s first act was electing nine club board members on Oct. 2.

This club was officially chartered by Rotary International on June 18, 2018.  The members volunteered a total of 2,261.5 hours during the last school year, a huge achievement.

There are 468,556 Interactors who are members of 20,372 Interact Clubs in 159 countries worldwide.

Link/Interact Club is supported by their school adviser, Susan Frye, and by members of Fremont Rotary Club.

Fremont Kiwanis have induction, installation

FREMONT- Division 12 Kiwanis Lt. Governor Mark Zeno presided over induction of new members as well as installation of officers and directors at the Oct. 3 luncheon of Fremont Kiwanis at the Fremont Elks Lodge.

Inducted into Fremont Kiwanis were the following: Rod Combs (sponsor Linda Combs); Adrienne Fawsey and Alex Boroff, GLCAP corporate (sponsor Linda Combs); Amanda Glick, Viva Los Healthy corporate (Beth Rice); Jordan Treece (Rick Holland); Erin Cremean and Angie Wood (both sponsored by Lisa Shuey).

Prior to the induction ceremony, LTG Zeno formally installed the 2019-20 Fremont Kiwanis officers and directors: President Linda Combs; President-Elect Hilary Frater; 2nd Vice President Ally Smith; Immediate Past President Beth Rice; Secretary Kim Huffman; and Treasurer Carla Waggoner.

The board of directors includes Larry Gundy, Jodi Albright, Tom Bowlus, Lynn Urban and Ken Kreilick. Officers from the Fremont Ross and Gibsonburg Key Clubs were installed at the same time. Also at the meeting, Rice gave an outgoing president's speech, Combs presented an incoming president's message, and Zeno explained the 2019-20 First Family Project of Ohio District Kiwanis Governor Tim Cornelius involving prevention of kids head trauma.

Fremont Kiwanis meets for lunch every Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fremont Elks.

'Dracula: The Musical?' set at FCT

FREMONT - Fremont Community Theatre will present the first show of the 64th season, "Dracula: The Musical?"

Performance dates are Oct. 18 to 20 and 25 to 27.  Fremont Community Theatre is at 1515 Dickinson St. This musical spoof on the classic horror story of Bram Stoker's Dracula features the Seward family and their home (a madhouse). 

To make a reservations call  419-332-0695. The box office will open 30 minutes prior to show start time. Ticket prices are: $15 for adults, $12 for military and seniors (60 and over), and $5 for students and children. 

Performance dates are 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26 and 2 p.m. Oct. 20 and 27.

Port Clinton High School hosts blood mobile

PORT CLINTON  - Port Clinton High School was host to the American Red Cross Bloodmobile on Sept. 24. The Future Professionals in Medicine group at PCHS organized and volunteered at the event.

Drawing held for raffle winner

BELLEVUE - The “Loyalty Club” drawing was held for The Bellevue Hospital Foundation’s 2020 “Is Your Heart Set on a Vette” Corvette Raffle. The Loyalty Club drawing was held on Oct. 1 and was for previous ticket holders who purchased a ticket for the current raffle during September. The $1,917 winner was Gerald Forsythe from Wheeling, Illinois, who donated his winnings back to The Bellevue Hospital Foundation.

The 10th annual “Is Your Heart Set on a Vette” Corvette Raffle is being sponsored by The Bellevue Hospital Foundation, in cooperation with Steinle Chevrolet-Buick in Clyde. Grand prize in the raffle is $100,000 cash or a new Corvette Stingray, plus $40,000 in cash. The grand prize drawing will be on Feb. 14.

Tickets, priced at $100 each, are now on sale at the Clyde and Fremont Steinle locations; the Bellevue Beverage Center; at the hospital gift shop; and at VetteRaffle.com
