Malayalam actor Vinayakan has bagged a very meaty role in director Kamal’s upcoming film. The director has roped in a set of newbies to plays pivotal roles in the film but Vinayakan will be doing a very meaty role, we hear. The shooting of this film is all set to commence in Lakshadweep early next month and the groundwork for it is currently on.
Vinayakan is recognised as one of the most versatile actors in the film industry now. Besides Malayalam movies, in which he appears predominantly, he has also acted in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films. He has won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Rajeev Ravi’s Kammatipaadam in 2016. Vinayakan who played Ganga in the film also composed a song.
Vinayakan will have four film releases this year including Dhruva Natcharathiram in Tamil which is being directed by Gautham Menon. The film has Vikram playing the lead role.
Also, he has three Malayalam films lined up for release – Trance, Thottappan and Karinthandan. Trance has been scripted by Vadakkan Vincent and the film stars Fahadh Faasil in the lead with Vinayakan, Soubin Shahir, Chemban Vinod, Sreenath Bhasi and Alphonse Puthran playing important roles. Apart from directing and producing the film, Anwar Rasheed is also handling the camera.
Karinthandan, in which Vinayakan plays the lead, is being directed by Leela Santhosh. The project had run into trouble some months ago with another filmmaker Gopakumar claiming that he is making a film with the same title. This issue is yet to be resolved, we hear.
The other movie Thottappan has Vinayakan playing the title role. Incidentally, Thottappan is inspired from the novel of the same name penned by Francis Noronha. Directed by Shanavas K Bavakutty, it is a film about the bond between a father and daughter.
