The following are complete but unofficial results from the Louisiana Secretary of State.

Candidates in bold have won their races. 

Sheriff

  • Sammie Byrd, Republican: 2,090 votes, 53%
  • Donnell Rose, No party: 1,861 votes, 47%

City of Tallulah Mayor

  • Charles Michael Finlayson, Democrat: 1,377 votes, 57%
  • Gloria Owens Hayden, Democrat: 1,060 votes, 43%

Police Juror

District 1

  • Robert D. Fortenberry, Republican: 356 votes, 40%
  • Preston Walker, Democrat: 524 votes, 60%

District 3

  • Dave Wilson III, Democrat: 392 votes, 52%
  • Bernard Wright, Democrat: 359 votes, 48%

Parishwide Proposition 1

The 17.1-mill tax continuation, if approved, could levy $1,782,000 per year over its 10-year span for the parish. The funds would be used for operating, maintaining, constructing and improving parish roads, bridges, drainage canals and related facilities and equipment.

  • Yes: 2,246 votes, 61%
  • No: 1,414 votes, 39%

Tallulah sales and use tax proposition

The .5% sales and use tax proposition, if approved, could levy $342,000 per year over its 20-year span for the city of Tallulah. The funds would be used for any lawful purpose including but not limited to funding for the construction, improvement, renovation, operation and maintenance of water and sewer utility facilities.

  • Yes: 1,381 votes, 61%
  • No: 882 votes, 39%

Village of Delta millage proposition

The 7-mill tax proposition, if approved, could levy $6,300 per year over its 10-year span for the village of Delta. The funds would be used for constructing, improving, maintaining and keeping in repair the public roads, highways and bridges int he village.

  • Yes: 38 votes, 72%
  • No: 15 votes, 28%

Afton Fire Protection District service charge proposition

The $125 service charge to owners of residential and commercial structures, if approved, could levy $28,250 per year over its 10-year span for the parish. The funds would be used for paying costs of fire protection services, including the cost of acquiring, operating and maintaining equipment and facilities. Owners would be assessed a  charge for each structure which they own; each residential or commercial unit and each housing unit within a multiple dwelling structure would be considered a separate structure. A mobile home would be considered a structure, and owners would be assessed 80% of the service charge.

  • No: 39 votes, 39%
