A CAST of more than 80 actors is preparing to bring a popular musical to the stage.

Ahead of their production of Evita this spring, Durham Musical Theatre Company turned Hotel Indigo, in Durham’s Old Shire Hall, into Casa Rosada, the presidential palace in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The company is staging the popular musical, by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, from Tuesday, April 2 until Saturday, April 6.

Shireen Gale and Anthony Smith will be playing the Perons in the upcoming production of Evita

In this production, the part of Eva Perón is played by Shireen Gale from South Shields, Che by Graeme Walton, Perón by Anthony Smith, the Mistress by Katy Walton, all from Newton Hall and Magaldi by Steven Berry from Bishop Auckland.

  • Shows are at the Gala Theatre and start at 7pm each evening, with 2pm matinees on Wednesday and Saturday.
