Village Community Center

Work is progressing on the new Pinehurst community center on Rattlesnake Trail.

Despite being more than three weeks behind schedule on construction, Pinehurst officials are confident their $4.9 million community center will be ready by the start of basketball season.

Village leaders knew it would a tight timeline — even if the project stayed on schedule — to be moved into the center by the first week in December. By then, the gym at Pinehurst Elementary School will have been torn down, along with the rest of the buildings to make way for a new campus.

Kent's fingers are really hurtin', so let me carry the load for a bit. WHY IS THE VILLAGE SPENDING OVER $4 MILLION ON A GOLD-PLATED REC CENTER? HALF-COURT BASKETBALL IS MORE THAN ENOUGH, THAT'S WHAT MOST PEOPLE PLAY AND WANT ANYWAY!!!!! Further, why is the Village spending taxpayer money to compete with private enterprise? Let someone who is a maker, not a taker, risk his money (I was gonna say, "or her money" then I remembered females are only useful for one thing, making babies) on a for profit enterprise at no expense to the taxpayers. People who don't support this should get exempted from having to pay any taxes to pay for its construction or operation. This is pure Socialism/Communism and I won't stand for it!!!!! (I hope Kent approves, I spent hours researching his past comments to get the je n'ais se quoi just so)
