A teenager who Fairfield police believe opened fire on passengers in a sport utility vehicle more than two years ago at Solano Town Center has been held to answer for the alleged crime and faces more proceedings in the coming weeks in Solano County Superior Court.

Givon Marcel Edmondson Jr., 18, of Sacramento, appeared Jan. 16 in Judge Stephanie Grogan Jones’ courtroom for the additional arraignment. Judge Jones ordered him to return at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 27.

The defendant faces three counts of attempted murder, among other charges, for the Nov. 20, 2017, shooting in the sprawling mall parking lot.

At his most recent court appearance, he was represented by defense attorney Carol Long, but he had been previously represented by Kellin Cooper, a Berkeley-based lawyer.

Edmondson, who was 16 at the time of the alleged crimes, also is charged with one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle and three counts of assault with a firearm.

Court records indicate Edmondson was arrested three days after the shooting and booked into Solano County Juvenile Hall.

The case was later transferred to adult criminal court, and the Solano County Deputy District Attorney’s Office filed its complaint on Nov. 14, 2018. The document listed the victims only by their initials A.T., J.E., and J.L. and did not indicate their ages.

In California, one count of attempted first-degree murder carries a life sentence (with the possibility of parole); otherwise, the sentencing range is generally five to nine years in state prison.
