The youngest bull in the catalogue, Goldies Olympus, attracted the lead price of 7000gns at the Limousin Cattle Society's summer sale of pedigree cattle at Borderway Mart, Carlisle.

The bull, from Dumfriesshire breeder, Bruce Goldie, is and an ET calf by the AI sire, Fairywater Haig, out of Millington Gorgeous, a cow that has previously bred bulls up to 16,000gns. He sold carrying two copies of the F94L Myostatin gene, to Messrs Walton and Sons, Newbrough, Hexham.

In all 20 bulls out of the 30 forward found new homes to produce a 67% clearance rate. Five sold for 5000gns or more.

Three bulls came under the hammer for 6000gns to include Eves Nighthawk from JW and DN Eve, Stubbsgill, Aspatria, Cumbria. This December 2017-born entry is by the AI sire, Mereside Lorenzo, out of the 10-year-old Eves Emily and headed down to Wales, with Messrs Evans, Llanrhaeadr, Denbigh.

Another Mereside Lorenzo-sired made the same money for Stephen and Ann Morley, Petteril Bank, Southwaite. Petteril Oklahoma, a 16-month-old bull, is out of Petteril Lucy whose great grand dam is the prolific Bankdale Alice. Oklahoma goes out to work in the Garnedd pedigree herd of Ken Jones, Padog, Betws-Y-Coed, Gwynedd.

The last of the 6000gns bids came for the 15-month-old, Arradfoot Oklahoma, from Thor Atkinson, Arradfoot and Newland Pedigree Livestock, Newland, Nr Ulverston. An embryo calf, he is by the AI sire Ampertaine Gigolo, out of Greenferns Lucky and sold down to Herefordshire with Messrs Thomas, Kinnersley, Hereford.

Selling at 5000gns was the December 2017-born Gunnerfleet Nightowl, from Lancashire breeder, Ian Handley, Gunnerfleet Chapel Le Dale. By Plumtree Fantastic, Nightowl is out of Gunnerfleet Isuna and was bought by Messrs Hickson, Jedburgh, Roxburghshire.

* The sale of pedigree Charolais the same day, saw just two bulls out of the catalogued entry of 19, change hands.

Dearest at 4300gns was W Richardson and Sons' Laverock Marksman, a three-year-old son of the Corrie Alan-sired Laverock Inkspot, from Laverock Bridge, Mealbank, Kendal. He is out of a home-bred Doonally New daughter, and was knocked down to Messrs Langcake, Isel, Cockermouth.
