Hexham and Northern Marts held their annual Bellingham prize show and sale for spring-born suckled calves and offered a total of 905 head forward, with the pre-sale show judged by Matthew Brown, Bridlington.

The show classes were dominated by Eric and Mark Armstrong of Harlow Bower, who claimed champion honours for a red heifer calf, later realising £3500, and also reserve champion for a black and white bullock, selling for £1040. Eric and Mark Armstrong completed a great days trading to average £1123 for 10 bullocks and eight heifers sold.

Steers peaked at £1000, whilst the heifer trade proved buoyant topping at £1320 and £1300 to the same purchaser that took home the champion calf.
