ONE OF Argyllshire's best-known farmers, Bruce Dixon, died suddenly after taking ill at last week's main autumn calf sale at Dalmally mart.
Mr Dixon, from Lochgilphead, is a well-known farmer in the area and was a stalwart of Mid Argyll Show, being a recent past chairman of its organising committee.
He had just finished selling the annual crop of calves off his farm when he took ill. The local policeman and paramedics sadly failed to revive Mr Dixon.
