WIGTOWNSHIRE'S annual Open Ploughing Match was held last Saturday (December 8) at Little Lochans Farm, near Stranraer, where forty ploughmen from all over Scotland, England and Ireland competed against one another in five different classes.
The organising committee thanked the Kirkpatrick Family, for the use of their field, the judges for providing the all important results, the spectators who came to give their support, and the many sponsors for their generous donations. Hugh Kirkpatrick presented the prizes.
The results were as follows:
Class 2 – Broken Work: 1, A Brown; 2, H Currie; 3, G Rae.
Class 3 – Classic: 1, J Magnay; 2, J McBratney; 3, A Murdoch.
Class 4 – Reversible. 1, G McLachlan; 2, R Anderson; 3, M Henry.
Class 5 – Vintage Trailing. 1, D Kirkpatrick; 2, D Grattan.
Class 6 – Vintage Mounted. 1, G Black; 2, R Wilkinson; 3, F Davidson.
Champion – A Brown. Reserve champion – G Black
