Man, 20, arrested and charged over ‘attempted murder’ of man outside Ayrshire bar as cops raced to scene

A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged murder bid in Ayrshire.

Keith Speirs, 50, was allegedly headbutted outside The Buf bar on Main Street, Prestwick, at around 2.15am on Sunday morning.

He has been left with a bleed on the brain and was described by medical staff as in 'serious' condition in hospital.

Now cops have confirmed a 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged.

He is due to appear before Ayr Sheriff Court today, Wednesday November 21 and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Sergeant Barry Walker from Ayr CID said at the time: "A man is lying seriously injured in hospital and it is absolutely vital that we trace the individual responsible.

"Main Street would have been busy at the time of the incident and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed a disturbance, or anything at all which could be of significance, to please get in touch."
