Driver rushed to hospital after lorry overturns on A76 in Dumfriesshire sparking emergency response

A MAN has been rushed to hospital after a lorry overturned on the A76 this afternoon.

The male driver of the lorry was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with head and arm injuries.

It is also understood he suffered a concussion from the smash.

Police Scotland confirmed their attendance and have warned drivers they may be there for another few hours before the lorry is cleared.

A road blockage has been put in place and there is damage to a nearby barrier following the crash.

Drivers have been urged to find an alternative route if possible as delays are expected.

This latest crash follows a number of road collisions earlier today.

Two people were taken to hospital after a smash on the M8 on the westbound carriageway at junction six Newhouse around 8.45am.

And another two incidents in Lanarkshire and Fife brought rush hour traffic to a standstill.
