Tributes paid to ‘talented’ and ‘gorgeous’ champion dancer, 18, killed in horror crash in Caithness

TRIBUTES have been paid to a "talented" and "gorgeous" teen girl who died in a horror smash in Caithness.

The tragic girl has been named locally as Lauren Miller, 18, from Thurso.

She passed away after her white Citroen DS3 collided with a blue Peugeot 207 on the A882 near Bridge of Milton at around 8.30pm last night.

And devastated friends of family of the champion dancer have told of their anguish.

Lauren's sister Rebecca said: "Can't even put into words how I feel right now. Despite the arguments your still my sister and once my best friend and I love you.

"Completely broken. Rest in peace Lauren, you’ll never know how much I've missed you. Always a warrior."

Pal Kelsey Ross wrote: "I’m heartbroken. My partner in crime, best friend and sister like figure for so long. We were a riot when we were together, always having the best time.

"To say I’m gonna miss you is an understatement and I’ll never forget the memories we shared together. I know I’ll see you again one day and I’ll hug you so tight. Rest easy."

Lauren McAndrew said: "Can’t quite believe it and at a total loss for words. You were one talented and lovely girl Lauren and so lucky to have known you and watch you shine through the dance world.

"Taken far too soon and far too young. My heart is breaking for your family I can’t even begin to imagine the pain they are feeling right now. One things for sure, you were a very highly thought of girl. Sleep tight and dance circles up there gorgeous girl."

While Rhianne Hughes added: "I am lost for words after waking up to the most devastating news. You will be missed by us all."

The male driver of the blue Peugeot 207 also involved in the incident was uninjured.

The road remains closed to allow for collision investigation work to be carried out. A local diversion is in place.

Road Policing Sergeant Donnie Mackinnon said: "Our thoughts are with the young woman's family and friends at this difficult time.

"We are working to establish the full circumstances of this collision and would ask anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to contact us.

"We would be keen to hear from anyone who believes they have seen these vehicles on the road prior to the collision or who may have dashcam footage.

"Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3776 of December 10."
