The US diner admit they have failed to live up to expectations and said sorry to punters

US DINERS Denny#s has issued an apology to punters after being slammed with more than 150 one-star reviews in just two months after opening in Glasgow.

The popular restaurant opened at Braehead on December 10 to huge excitement with Scots who told at the time how they “couldn’t wait” to visit.

But that quickly changed with disappointed diners blasting the service, waiting time and grub quality in a string of scathing reviews on Trip Advisor.

Denny's have admitted they have failed to live up to expectations and have said sorry to punters.

A spokesperson said: "Since we opened our first diner in Scotland in December, we haven’t always given our customers the Denny’s experience they expect, and we are sincerely sorry.

"Your continued support and enthusiasm are very important to us and we want to assure you that we are committed to offering you great quality food and service, every time.

"At Denny’s we love to feed people. In order to provide the very best quality food in a reasonable amount of time we have been working hard to make the changes necessary to achieve that.

"We have made management changes and we are continuously improving the training and recruitment of our team.

"We have hired additional team members to ensure we can deliver the very best guest experience and we are continuing to train our cooks on the correct brand standards while recruiting additional talented cooks to deliver great food and great service all the time.

"We know that queues and wait times have been an issue for many of our guests.

"Our servers will always advise guests if the restaurant is busy and there is a wait. In addition, we have a text service that will allow our guests to register for a table and continue shopping or running errands, sure in the knowledge that they will be notified when their table is ready."

There has also been issues with customers being slapped with parking charges for using designated parking spaces.

The spokesperson added: "We know some guests have been concerned about parking fines at Braehead.

"We are sincerely sorry for the confusion. Our car park is available for guests to use, free of charge.

"Any Denny’s guest who has received a ticket has had this waived and we have taken steps to improve our communications about this arrangement.

"For any guests who wish to park for longer than four hours, we ask them to enter their registration number at our host desk to avoid receiving a ticket.

"We are grateful for the warm welcome we received in Scotland and we are confident that we can return that sentiment.

"We will continue to do our utmost to regain your trust and provide you with an atmosphere where you can sit back, relax and enjoy delicious, hearty meals every day of the year."

One person described it as the “worst meal I’ve ever had” and told how after a 70 minute wait the tater tots were “cremated” and mozzarella dippers “soggy”.

They also added that the cheese slice for their burger was brought out on a plate by itself.

Another added their own “joke” review claiming their time there was “a fiasco” and among their “worst dining experiences ever”.

They said: “Too many things not available when we ordered.

“Some of our food started to arrive almost dead on 60 minutes after we ordered.

“Some of that it transpired had sat under heat lamps for 15 minutes.

“The last of the food arrived as the first served were just finishing.

“Some of the orders were missing ingredients.

“All in all a fiasco.

“Honestly amongst the worst dining experiences ever.

“If they don’t do something about customer service they will have no customers soon.

“I will not be returning.”
