Eyewitness recalls horror moment woman plunged 100ft to her death from Glasgow flats after seeing her dangling from window clutching man’s hand

The man, who lives on the 14th floor of the flats, said that he never heard her scream as she plummeted to the ground from 11 floors up

AN EYEWITNESS recalled the moment he saw a woman plunge 100ft to her death from the 11th floor of a block of flats in Glasgow.

Last night horrified eyewitness Akm Faridzuzzman, 38, told how he saw the woman cling to someone’s hand at a window before she fell without screaming a word.

She was rushed to hospital but was later pronounced dead, with Mr. Faridzuzzman being visibly shaken hours after the incident.

Detectives are investigating the horror plunge after the victim was found in Charles Street, Royston, Glasgow, by stunned emergency services workers after a 999 alarm was raised around 5.15pm.

Faridzuzzman, who lives on the 14th floor of the high rise with his family, said: “It’s something you’d never want to see, I can’t get the imagine of her falling out of my head.

“My wife shouted at me because she saw a youngish woman, maybe about 28 or 29, holding onto a man’s hand as she was dangling out the window.

Last night police had still to establish if the incident was suspicious.

Mr Faridzuzzman added: “The woman was just hanging there from his hand - but it didn’t look like she was trying to get back up or pull his hand off her.

“I was on the phone to the ambulance and looked away then looked back up and I saw her falling, she was about at the fourth floor by that point and I had to look away.

“She didn’t scream or anything, it was a double window she fell from onto grass.

“I won’t be able to sleep tonight, I’m still shaking and seeing her fall over and over again.”

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 5.15pm police were called to a report of a woman having fallen from the 11th floor of a block of flats in Charles Street, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

“Enquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”
