Two arrested after ‘man attacked’ and ‘stolen car chase’ through Glasgow before crash

Cops said the men, aged 47 and 26 years, were nicked and charged after the alleged assault of a 29-year-old man and the theft of a black Peugeot car around 12.45am from Claredon Place

TWO men have been nicked after an alleged attack and stolen car chase through Glasgow.

Cops say that motor crashed in the Maryhill area of the city in the early hours of this morning.

Detectives confirmed that the men, aged 47 and 26, have been arrested and charged following the alleged assault of another man, 29, and the theft of a black Peugeot car around 12.45am from Claredon Place.

Officers spotted the car and allegedly there was a "short pursuit".

It's understood that the motor crashed into bollards but nobody was hurt.

Police said that the two men were nicked from the car close to a gym near a supermarket on Maryhill Road.

The men are now expected to appear in court later this week.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Two men, aged 47 and 26 years, have been arrested and charged following the alleged assault of a 29-year-old man and the theft of a black Peugeot car around 12.45am from Claredon Place, St George's Cross, Glasgow.

"The vehicle was spotted by police on Maryhill Road and following a short pursuit, the two men were arrested from the car near the gym opposite Tesco on Maryhill Rd.

"The vehicle crashed into bollards but no injury to occupants or police.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

We told you earlier how a car was left on its side after a crash in the east end of Glasgow.

Emergency services raced to the scene on Abercromby Street shortly after 7am this morning.

And the road was locked down as police dealt with the incident.
