Officers have blasted the "completely unacceptable" crime and say the damage is estimated at a four-figure sum.

They say it could have been a lot worse than it turned out, and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Scott Murray, who is leading enquiries, said: “The cost of the damage is estimated to be around a four-figure sum which is completely unacceptable. It also goes without saying that had this fire not been noticed as early as it did the outcome could have been much worse.

“This incident is being treated as a wilful fire-raising and I would encourage anyone with information to please get in touch as soon as possible. Incidents of this nature are extremely rare in the community and it won’t be tolerated.
