Glasgow traffic warning as Pride parade, World Pipe Band Championships, Summer Sessions and Celtic game all taking place today

GLASGOW is bracing itself for a day of traffic chaos with four major events taking place in the city today.

Drivers are warned of delays as Pride, World Pipe Band Championships, Summer Sessions and Celtic v Dunfermline kick off across the city.

Glasgow City Council said: "With various events happening in and around the city this weekend, traffic and footfall is likely to busier than normal.

"There are a number of road closures in place, so please plan your journey."

The city centre will be taken over by thousands of Pride revellers as the city's annual parade kicks off at 11:30am.

Rolling road closures are in place, meaning police will guide participants and traffic, as the march starts from Clyde Place this morning.

It will then continue to King George V Bridge, Oswald Street, Argyle Street, Queen Street and onto George Square, St Vincent Place, St Vincent Street, Renfield Street, Union Street, Jamaica Street and Broomielaw before entering Fast Link and dispersing.

The World Pipe Band Championships are also taking place at Glasgow Green today, with up to 8000 pipers and drummers competing for the coveted prize.

195 bans from 13 countries will take part and 40,000 fans are expected to descend on the city for the fest.

Charlottte Street and Greendyke Street will be closed in parts today with no waiting or loading at several streets in the area.

Celtic are also playing at Parkhead this afternoon, with the Hoops facing Dunfermline Athletic.

The Scottish League Cup clash will kick off at 3pm.

Over 40 streets are shut also around Bellahouston Park as thousands flock to the south side to see Foo Fighters tonight.
