A MAN has been taken to hospital after a near four-hour standoff with cops in Glasgow.
Police were rushed to the scene at Leyden Gardens in Maryhill as part of a 'siege' at a flat on Sunday.
Officers closed Leyden Street and Bilsland Drive in the north of Glasgow while they managed the situation.
Cops asked drivers to avoid the area.
Several police vans were parked on nearby streets.
Officers in riot gear were also spotted in the area.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 3.50pm on Sunday 13 October 2019, police were called to a flat in Leyden Gardens, Maryhill, Glasgow, following concerns for the welfare and behaviour of a man within.
"Officers, supported by force negotiators, attended and the man surrendered to police around 7.40pm.
"He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for assessment and left under the care of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde."
Just after 5pm yesterday, Greater Glasgow Police tweeted warning drivers to stay away from the area.

A tweet read: "Police are asking motorists to avoid the area of Leyden Street and Bilsland Drive in Glasgow while we deal with an ongoing police incident.
"Thank you for your patience in this matter."
A spokesperson for Police Scotland then confirmed they were in attendance at the "siege" in Maryhill.

There was sizeable emergency services presence in the area as ambulance crews and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service joined cops in Maryhill.
The siege was brought to a close after several hours.
There were no injuries during the incident.
