A MANIAC in a Range Rover deliberately mowed down a man during a murder bid in a Lanarkshire street.

The 38-year-old man was walking along Burnhouse Crescent, Hamilton when the silver motor deliberately drove at him and knocked him down.

The vehicle then made off at speed along Neilsland Road after the attack around 11.20pm on Thursday night.

Emergency services raced to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment to serious leg injuries.

Medical staff have described his condition as stable.

Cops say they are treating the attack as attempted murder and are appealing for local residents who may be able to assist with dashcam footage to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Ronnie Douglas from Cambuslang CID said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Burnhouse Crescent or Neilsland Road last night and either witnessed the incident, or noticed a silver Range Rover driving erratically, to please get in touch.

“I would also urge any motorists with dashcams who were in the vicinity to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Cambuslang CID via 101, quoting incident number 4536 of Thursday 21 March 2019. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
