Glasgow mum gives birth to ‘miracle baby’ despite repeatedly being offered abortions due to complications
A MUM defied medics to give birth to a “miracle” son after she was repeatedly offered an abortion due to complications.
Lauren Webster, 21, was devastated to be told at a 13-week scan that her baby had a bladder outlet obstruction and was unlikely to survive.
She said: “The doctor asked if I wanted to terminate. But I knew I’d always be thinking ‘what if?’.”
Lauren, of Cumbernauld, said every week after scans she was asked if she wanted to terminate.

But she had a “gut feeling” her baby would be okay and by week 18 the bladder had healed itself.
Lauren, who has had two miscarriages, was then told the tot might have potentially fatal genetic disorder Edwards Syndrome — and was again offered an abortion.

Lauren said: “He’s got a condition that means his feet are a bit turned in and he had a hernia op, but apart from that he’s healthy.”
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: “Routine procedure is to outline all treatment options, which include termination.”
