Cyclist in a serious condition after being hit by tractor near Inverness

A CYCLIST is in a serious condition after being hit by a tractor near Inverness.

Emergency services were called to the smash in the Carrbridge area around 7.15pm on Thursday night.

The collision took place on Carr Road, approximately 400 metres from the junction with the A938.

The cyclist was heading eastbound when he collided with the tractor which was heading west.

The 43-year-old man was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment before being transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Medical staff have described his condition as serious.

Cops sealed off the road following the crash but it was reopened around 2.45am following their investigation at the scene.

Road Policing Sergeant David Miller said: "We are working to establish the full circumstances of this collision and anyone who may be able to help is asked to come forward.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the tractor or a group of bicycles on the road prior to the collision to get in touch.

"Anyone who could help our enquiries can call 101, quoting reference NM1637/19.”
