A STREET in Glasgow was taped off for around seven hours last night because of an "unsafe building".

Emergency services raced to Ingram Street in the city centre shortly after 7pm on Saturday September 14.

Police and fire crews were spotted by passers-by as a cordon was put up across the busy street.

Council chiefs confirmed that the emergency had been sparked by an "unsafe building".

And locals were urged to follow diversions while the lockdown was in place.

A Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: "Due to an unsafe building Ingram St is closed to traffic in both directions between Queen St and South Frederick St.

"Please follow Police Diversion."

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed three appliances, including an aerial platform were sent to the scene.

The council has now confirmed the road is open to the public again after the danger was cleared.

Police Scotland has confirmed that no-one was injured.

An inspection of the building is to take place.
