TOMMIE HOBAN admits he’s fighting to save his career at 25 after his SECOND cruciate injury.

The Aberdeen defender has been ruled out for the rest of the season after crumpling to the floor in agony during the weekend 2-2 draw with St Mirren.

Hoban has been through the ordeal of a serious knee injury before and he missed a whole year while with his parent club Watford.

The defender played his first match in 15 months when he faced Burnley for the Dons back in July.

But he was crocked once again within weeks of that after suffering a shoulder injury.

Hoban returned to first-team action in late January, playing just six times for the Pittodrie side before his bad luck struck again.

With his contract at Watford due to expire during the summer, his latest injury has come at a terrible time for his career prospects.

So he will now head back to Vicarage Road to undergo his rehabilitation from this latest injury with the medical staff.

He admitted on Instagram: “Struggling to come to terms with what happened at the weekend and really can’t believe I’m in this position again . . . but the scan has shown I’ve suffered another cruciate injury.

“It felt so good to be back a part of it all the last month and I wish the season had gone differently.

“I’ve no idea what the future holds at this point but I would like to thank everyone at Aberdeen Football Club for all the support they have shown me the last few days, and thank you for all the messages of support I’ve received.”
