Dundee United fans take stag-do to Sporting KC to meet hero Johnny Russell

A GROUP of Dundee United fans travelled across the globe to meet hero Johnny Russell as part of a stag-do.

The Tangerines fans visited MLS side Sporting Kansas City for their clash against San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.

And after the match Russell spent time with the fans as he posed for a picture with the group and signed autographs.

Russell spent seven seasons at Tannadice making 120 appearances and scoring 46 times as he became a fans' favourite.

Posting a video of the meet-up Sporting Kansas City wrote: "Good bachelor party: Going to a #SportingKC match.

"Epic bachelor party: Going to a #SportingKC match and meeting your favorite ex-@dundeeunitedfc player Johnny Russell on the pitch."

Before Dundee United's official account posted: "When you take your stag party to Kansas to see Johnny Russell. Superb stuff lads 👏 🧡🖤"

Russell joined the MLS side in 2018 and quickly established himself as a key player under Peter Vermes.

He has made 59 appearances for Sporting KC and netted 19 times.

His form earned him a recall to the Scotland squad, playing seven times since his switch from Derby to the USA.
