With more than 100 million records sold worldwide, the band had plenty of hits to play for the sold-out crowd.

And no expense was spared on the visuals with laser beams and levitating covers wowing the audience.

They opened the show with their 2000 song Everyone as they thanked people in the SSE Hydro for backing for more than 25 years.

Halfway through the gig they had fans swooning during an emotional rendition of Quit Playing Games (With My Heart).

But it wasn’t just the classics that impressed their masses of fans.

Though the majority of punters were waiting for the songs that made the band famous, they also played new tracks like Breathe from their latest album DNA.

While their 2005 hit Incomplete also went down a treat with fans.

And heart-throb AJ McLean even demonstrated his decent Scottish accent while explaining his highland heritage to the sold-out crowd.

However it wasn’t until towards the end of the 32-song setlist that things went really wild.

Suddenly the boys appeared on stage in their iconic white suits as things heated up.

Women shrieked as the posters they used to have on their walls 20 years ago came to life right in front of them.

The boys then rattled off all of their biggest hits in quick succession, taking many of the crowd back to their teenage glory days.

The band belted out Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) and seemingly closed the gig with the iconic I Want It That way.

A few minutes later they returned and ended on a high with Larger Than Life.

They might have been singing and dancing for 26 years but the boys still have it.

Backstreet isn’t back. Because it never went anywhere.
