J.L. Bowler Elementary in Bunkerville has welcomed seven new staff members for the 2018-2019 school year.

Richelle Sieland is the new elementary visual arts teacher. She holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction for art education from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She relocated from northern lower Michigan to Las Vegas in 2005 to teach for Clark County School District. She is a freelance artist and writer.

Jill-Anna Myers will serve in the second grade. She is a recent teacher transplant from California, where she taught for the same district for 17 years. She and her husband moved to the area after his retirement, and she is thrilled to be able to continue her teaching career with CCSD. She enjoys snow skiing, hiking, reading, and going to concerts in her off time. She also is an extremely proud mother and grandmother.

Kate Leavitt was born and raised in Las Vegas. She attended Cheyenne High School until moving to Bunkerville in 2009. She was a 2010 graduate of Virgin Valley High School and a collegiate athlete for the Paradise Valley Community College softball team. Married in 2011, she is a proud mother of three beautiful children. She currently attends Western Governors University, anticipating graduation in March.

Christina Fairman is one of the new first-grade teachers. She holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in literacy from UNLV. This is her 17th year teaching for the Clark County School District. She enjoys spending time with family, cooking, reading, writing, and art.

Mandy Walter is one of the new kindergarten teachers. She grew up in southern Nevada and is a proud mom of two beautiful children. She has had the privilege of being part of the local community’s elementary schools for the past five years. This year, she is excited to expand her role at J.L. Bowler Elementary as a teacher. She feels fortunate to teach alongside the dedicated and wonderful teachers in the Clark County School District and is looking forward to a great year.

Angela Crouch teaches fourth grade. A native of Wyoming, she was involved in 4-H, Future Farmers of America and rodeo. She earned a bachelor’s in elementary education at Chadron State College in Nebraska and taught in one-room school houses following her graduation. She holds a master’s degree in educational technology and has taught various subjects and grade levels throughout her career. For the past two years, she has been teaching at Ute V. Perkins Elementary School in Moapa. She and her husband have two children. The whole family loves their new Mesquite community.

Rob Litzenberger teaches fifth grade. After commuting to Las Vegas for the past four years, he said, “I am thrilled to be teaching in the community where I live and love.” When asked what he likes to do in his free time, he said, “If I am not teaching, you can probably find me on a ballfield or a beach.” His family loves to travel to the East Coast or baseball parks around the country. “I am glad to be joining the great staff at Bowler Elementary.”

The group recently traveled together to attend the Leader in Me 4.0, an elementary based training developed by Stephen R. Covey's best-selling book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” The program encourages planning, goal setting and leadership, all meant to be modeled for elementary children as they learn and grow. It was great experience for the group as they take their places in the community to teach our future leaders.

Lucy A. Weinrich is a fifth-grade teacher at J.L. Bowler Elementary School.
