M1 in Sheffield reopens after crash

The M1 in Sheffield has fully reopened after a crash this morning closed several lanes.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the motorway this morning, Friday, May 29, following a collision on the northbound carriageway near junction 35a for Stocksbridge.

Highways England tweeted just after 7.40am to say traffic officers were also at the scene and three out of four lanes were currently blocked.

Highways England has since said that all vehicles involved have been cleared and the road is fully open again.

South Yorkshire Police said it was called just before 7.30am to reports of a collision involving two cars.

“A Honda Civic and transit van were reported to be involved in the collision. The driver of the van, a man in his 30's was checked over by Yorkshire Ambulance Service, he did not suffer any injuries,” said a spokeswoman for the force.

“Highways England attended and assisted with the recovery of the vehicle.”
