Union Cabinet approves India-UAE pact on economic corridor
The aim of the IGFA is to enhance the bilateral relations and to further strengthen the relations between the two countries in the ports, maritime and logistics sectors.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in his home state of Gujarat for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2019, on Saturday, inaugurated the Larsen & Toubro Armoured Systems Complex in Hazira town, Surat. Accompanying him was defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
He also checked out the tanks at L&T’s Armoured Systems Complex and rode a K-9 Vajra Self Propelled Howitzer built by Larsen & Toubro.
“I congratulate the entire team of Larsen & Toubro for building the state-of-the-art K-9 Vajra Self Propelled Howitzer. This is a significant contribution towards India’s defence sector and protecting the country,” said Modi.

With reference to the inauguration of the Larsen and Toubro Armoured Systems Complex in Hazira, Modi said this will boost the ‘Make in India’ project in the defence sector, adding, “I am glad that the private sector too is supporting this pursuit and making a valuable contribution.”
In Silvassa, the capital of the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Modi will lay the foundation stone of Sayli Medical College that will cater to both Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
He is also expected to unveil a plaque to inaugurate various development projects in Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and also launch the m-Arogya app and door to door waste collection, segregation, and processing of solid waste.
In the last three years, an investment worth around Rs 9000 crore has been made in both the union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, said Modi.
“The government is working for the betterment of the fisherfolk of Daman and Diu with the help of the Blue Revolution. Along with Silvassa, Daman and Diu has been at the centre of various development projects,” said Modi in Silvassa.
He said that compared to the previous government, which built only 25 lakh houses during its tenure, his government has built more than 1 crore 25 lakh houses in five years.
“With the aid of Ayushman Bharat scheme, we have launched various healthcare centres throughout the country,” added Modi.
