Mystery as human bones found on building site in Melton Mowbray
COPS are investigating after human bones were found at a building site in Melton Mowbray.
Officers were scrambled to the site at around 3.30pm yesterday after the grisly discovery was made.
The remains were found after a care home was demolished to make way for more than 50 retirement living apartments and bungalows.
A forensic tent is now in place and Leicestershire Police have launched an investigation to solve the riddle.
The force said: "A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Officers received a report at around 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday) after human bones had been found at a site off Scalford Road, Melton Mowbray.
"A scene preservation is in place and enquiries, which are in the early stages, are ongoing.”
Locals believe the remains were discovered as diggers moved in to demolish the existing building.
